“Your Lie in April” is a romance anime and manga that follows a kid in junior high named Kousei Arima. It follows his life after his mom dies, which leads to him losing the ability to hear the notes played on a piano. His life is dull until he meets Kaori Miyazono, a violinist with an eccentric playing style. It also got a live-action film adaptation for the series and a light novel called “Your Lie in April – A Six Person Etude,” which tells the story from a different character’s perspective.
I initially wanted to get done watching the anime and have this done by the end of April, but due to my own fault, I didn’t. I enjoyed the anime. The anime has a depressing story, though I enjoyed it despite the fact, and I honestly knew this from videos online referencing it. I’d describe the anime’s story as perfect, with how it’s told and how it uses the visuals to aid the story. The art is amazing, and the animation is done perfectly. I unfortunately didn’t cry at all during or after the anime, but I see why people would. The anime also uses music from classical musicians, with a slight focus on Frédéric Chopin’s music. While the anime doesn’t have much original music, how it uses the pre-existing music is perfect. The classical music used always has some connection to the story, and also acts as a goal of sorts for Kousei to get to, and this is something that is just absolutely perfectly done in the anime.
I would absolutely recommend the anime, I rate it 5/5 stars! The anime is available on Crunchyroll.
