During March, Amphora, Fitch’s literary magazine, hosted its annual open mic night with a special guest appearance: Drake.
The open mic is a night for Fitch Students to showcase their talents on stage, whether that’s reading poetry or singing Disney songs. However, this year’s Open Mic was a little different. Singer-Songwriter Drake graced Fitch with his presence, delivering a soul-changing performance. The rapper opened the event with his hit song “NOKIA”, then moved on to songs like “Rich Baby Daddy” and “One Dance”. Students were absolutely captivated by the singer and were reportedly seen shouting alongside Drake during the performance. Later on, some students even signed up to perform their own renditions of his popular songs.
Amphora’s staff worked tirelessly to get the singer to the event, contacting his manager and attempting to convince Drake to come for free. Out of the kindness in his heart, Drake agreed, causing an uproar in the school. His agreement, however, sparked debate over why Drake stooped so low as to perform at a high school open mic.
“Is he struggling to sell tickets at concerts?” A student asked, concerned with Drake’s presence at Fitch.
Students expressed a wide range of emotions at the performance.
“I’m surprised they let him into a school,” an anonymous student said.
Despite the controversy surrounding the musician and his appearance at Fitch, the night was ultimately a complete success. Although he was begged to come back next year, Drake made no promises, so it’s looking like Amphora will have to find another musician for 2027’s Open Mic Night.
“It figures,” said sophomore Devin Hendricks. “The Super Bowl gets Kendrick, we get Drake.”
This article is a work of satire. Drake can’t draw a crowd these days.
