LOS ANGELES – Weird Al announced late last month that he has become normal.
Yesterday, March 31, Weird Al announced that he will no longer be making his regular kind of music and will stop making parodies altogether. He has also announced that he has left all his roles for sillier characters and has decided to do only serious acting roles. Along with all of this, he announced that he will be calling himself Alfred Yankovic for music.
The first hint of him becoming normal was when “The Book of Bill” was released with a quote from him on the back.
“I thought I liked weird things, but I was wrong. This book was too weird for me. I feel nauseous just thinking about the horrifying psychosis contained within,” said Alfred Yakovic. “I’m legally changing my name to ‘Normal Al’ now and pushing my Hawaiian shirts out to sea on a barge…”
It wasn’t until yesterday that Yankovic confirmed he’s becoming normal with a post on X.
“I am officially announcing that I, Weird Al, am becoming normal. I will from here on out refer to myself as Alfred Yankovic when publishing music. I will no longer be working in wacky roles and will only be working in serious roles,” said Yankovic on X.
It came as a shock to many of his fans, as they loved a lot of his regular art.
“I can’t believe this! He was someone I looked up to a lot!” said Kirsten Townsend, a Weird Al impersonator. “He shouldn’t have done this! He will lose all of his fans with this.”
Yankovic would later file a lawsuit against Townsend after she said this, not because of what she said, but because she would pretend to be him to get free stuff from companies and go to places only famous people belong in like the Oscars.
Yankovic’s first song, simply titled “Alfred,” has gotten poor ratings across the board by multiple song reviewers. Yankovic has been considering going back to being weird after this, though nothing else has come from this as of writing this.
This article is a work of satire. Weird Al will forever be weird, and that is how it should be.
