Holiday Activities To Do Around Town

Holiday+Activities+To+Do+Around+Town

Tis the season for excursions with family and friends while they are home for the holidays. Here are some inspiration and ideas for your merry adventures around Groton, Stonington, and Mystic throughout December and January.

Stonington Lobster Trap Tree

On 1 High Street in Stonington, CT, the Lobster Trap Tree comprises many lobster traps and hand-painted buoys from local artists and businesses and is an attraction to all. The tree is open through Jan. 7 and is lit between 4:30 and 9:30 P.M.. This is a popular art attraction where visitors can take pictures and admire the beautiful artwork.

Find the Buoy Holiday Scavenger Hunt

Another activity in Stonington Borough on 20 High Street is a free scavenger hunt, running through Dec. 31; this activity is fun for all ages. Acquire a postcard and find the different buoys in the set locations. After finding all of them, you are entered to win a special prize.

Mystic Holiday Light Spectacular

Through  Jan. 31, you can visit Olde Mistick Village to experience beautiful holiday lights while shopping, eating, and walking around. This is one of the largest light displays in southern New England, with over 500,000 lights.

Lantern Light Village

Through December, Mystic Seaport offers a self-guided tour through Christmas time in the 1900s. You will be able to experience different family traditions and history throughout the whole outdoor museum while going into 1900s-style houses, stores, and ships. On select nights families will be able to experience carolers, and various light displays. This tour is fit for all families and friends.
