GROTON, Conn. – The Falcons extended their winning streak to three games at home against Norwich Free Academy in a thriller of a game, bringing their ECC record to 2-0, and their overall record to 3-2.
The Falcons, facing another in-conference opponent, narrowly squeaked out a win with a final score of 13-12. Fitch has had their fair share of close wins recently as their last three games combined have been decided by only 6 points.
The game followed the same slow pace as was expected, as it was Fitch 7 and NFA 6, with Fitch blocking an extra point attempt.
Fitch and NFA remained in a stalemate until midway through the second half when NFA scored yet again making it 12-7 NFA. Just when all hope looked lost, on their last offensive drive of the game, the Falcons marched down the field and Micheal El Khoury scored a statement touchdown with mere minutes on the clock.
Fitch went on to four-and-out the NFA Wildcats, leading to their benevolent victory.
Fitch has two remaining intraleague games against Killingly and New London respectively, and will end the season with two rivalry games against Stonington and the coveted Thanksgiving Day bowl against the Ledyard for the Col. Ledyard Memorial Sword. For the Falcons, they will be looking to extend their streak in the series, having retained the sword since 2016.
