EAST LYME, Conn. – On Tuesday, Oct. 14, the Fitch girls’ co-op swim team traveled to East Lyme for the second time this season and finished in first place in their division.
The Falcons came into the meet with no available divers and were outscored 13-0 by East Lyme. However, they were on top in all three relays and the 200 and 500 yard freestyle, and defeated the Vikings by a narrow 93-90.
The individual wins for Fitch consisted of freshman Emma Meyer finishing in two minutes, 6.91 seconds for the 200 freestyle, and the 500 in 5:39.6, as well as Senior Kaitlyn Kumpf winning the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.69. The team increased its record to 7-1-1 overall while seizing the lead in their division.
The Fitch girls’ co-op hosted a meet against NFA on Oct.21, defeating the Wildcats 90-65. The team now looks to compete in the ECC Championships on Nov. 1.
