GROTON, Conn. – This year, the Environmental Club has had a strong start at Fitch with much engagement from students.
There was a previous Environmental Club at Fitch, and a student approached Ms. Hilary Clifton to revive it. Clifton, a science teacher at the school, is the current advisor. It currently has around 15 members who participate in projects related to environmental awareness and support their school community.
Clifton herself has always had a passion for the environment and previously worked in the field.
“I want students to have an understanding of their planet,” said Clifton.
The club is currently working on fundraising for the purchase of wildflowers, headed by their president, Ruby Pendola, and their vice president, Tahlia Suarez.
“We will be using the profits to buy native wildflowers to clean up and beautify the courtyard and campus,” said Pendola.
For those interested in the Environmental Club, it meets every Monday in Room 3117 during CTL.
