GROTON, Conn. – The Freshmen Volleyball Team has begun its season with new members and is excited to continue on with its league.
Since August, the Freshmen Volleyball Team has been practicing and conditioning for long hours for their brand new season representing Fitch. Now in September, the eight players have been hard at work playing six games since the beginning of this month. For three of those games, they have defeated teams. The other three, the team came short. This team has been a collaborative effort, and they are eager to continue playing together for the rest of their Fitch careers.
“We’ve been working hard,” said an anonymous freshman player. “I really enjoy the connections I’ve made in the team a lot.”
This freshman player has been playing on teams for two years now. She’s thrilled to be part of this new team, with most of her previous teammates. It’s not a new experience for her, but it’s definitely a different environment.
“We make a few mistakes, but it’s bound to happen,” said another anonymous freshman player. “But I enjoy the people I’m with, and I enjoy playing.”
When this player was asked how the team’s season was going so far, in her opinion, she mentioned that there was always room for improvement, but she loves the community she has around her constantly and likes the teamwork surrounding her. She’s been playing for five years and has been playing with many different teams, but these people she’s built a stronger bond with.
Although this team has made some mistakes, they still have a long season ahead of them. Fitch’s Freshmen Volleyball Team’s next game took place on Sept. 24, where they competed against NFA and won the game.
