EAST LYME, Conn. – Last weekend, Fitch fencers traveled to East Lyme to compete in the 2024 Winter Classic Invitational tournament.
The tournament took place at East Lyme High School where both the boys and girls competed and placed highly in the foil. The tournament had over 100 competitors.
In the men’s foil tournament, Fitch nearly missed out on a bronze medal, with Lochlan Lewis placing sixth place. East Lyme’s Nathan Reith ended up taking the gold. However, in the women’s foil, Annabelle Whitney was able to secure a gold medal, being the tournament winner. Fitch also had success in the men’s epee, where Reece Johnson placed seventh.
In the women’s epee, Fitch lost to the in-form East Lyme side who took the bronze medal.
The Fitch players will begin preparing for their next bouts, where they will face Norwich Free Academy on Saturday, Dec. 14.
