Leading up to this year’s Winter Break, the members of the Falcon Press Staff will be sharing their favorite holiday films each of the 12 days leading up to the last day of school on Friday, Dec. 20. We hope you enjoy this feature, our thoughts on the movies listed, and the memories we associate with them!
Millie DeBell – “Love, Actually” or “White Christmas”
As my family tradition follows, the day after Thanksgiving my mom and I will put up our tree in the living room (yes, the tree is fake) and wait until the sun sets to pour a cup of tea, place decorations on the mantle, unwrap ornaments and indulge in memories; but, one crucial thing ties together the whole night, rewatching the 1954 film, “White Christmas.” Its classic star-studded cast (Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and Vera-Ellen), very skilled dance numbers, and crooner-style music make this movie a staple in my holiday traditions. If you want a cozy and old-fashioned movie, “White Christmas” is for you.
Alexia Dickey – “The Polar Express”
“The Polar Express” will forever hold a special place in my heart because every year after Thanksgiving dinner my sister and I sit and watch the movie in our Christmas pj drinking hot chocolate and tea ( my sister doesn’t like hot chocolate she’s weird) we turn off all the lights and watch the movie together and always joke how they should make this into a roller coaster in Disney or something like that because that would be a cool ride. But we always stop the movie at the same part every year right when they hit the ice and we eat dessert with our family. Before we go back to the movie. “The Polar Express” is our thing every time we do something related to it we send a picture of it to each other. But we only watch that movie once a year at this time to keep it special.
