Last month, Fitch varsity volleyball competed in a hard-fought ECC tournament game against the Waterford Lancers that ultimately snapped their winning streak at home.
The game fell on Senior Night, it was a hard-fought game for the Fitch players. Their five-game winning streak at home was lost after this performance. Fitch last played Waterford back in September where they lost. This loss would continue the trend of losing against Waterford and would increase it to seven games in a row.
The loss didn’t mean it was a poor showing from the Falcons, in fact, they finished all their sets within eight points of Waterford. The senior celebrations happened shortly after the match concluded, with Abigail Malone, Dynastee Pena, Emma Main, Natalie Helme, Sage Overmoyer, Coco Vincente, Sydney Weigle, and Camile Monsale being the focus of attention.
The match ended with final set scores of 25-21, 25-18, and 25-20. The Fitch record is now 9-11 and the Lancers now with 14-8 record.
As for the rest of the season, Fitch varsity volleyball has a state competition game on Nov, 4 against Wilbur Cross.
