“Weird Al” Yankovic is a music artist who made music from the early 1980s to the early 2010s, now mainly working on the music for shows and movies. He has made music for movies like “Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie.” Weird Al is known for his parodies of songs like “Gangsta’s Paradise,” “My Sharona,” “I Love Rock ‘n” Roll,” “Bad,” “Beat It,” “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” and more. He also does a lot of voice acting, doing voices in shows like “Gravity Falls,” “Adventure Time,” “Milo Murphy’s Law,” “My Little Pony,” “We Bare Bears,” “Batman VS Robin,” etc.
For the 10th anniversary of his album “Mandatory Fun,” Weird Al” Yankovic releases a single called “Polkamania! ” It is a medley of songs from the past decade. Among the songs in this medley are “Helena Polka (Al’s Versions),” “Bad Guy” by Billie Eilish, “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” by Lin-Manuel Miranda and the cast of Encanto, “Vampire” by Olivia Rodrigo, “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X, “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran, “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars, “Thank U, Next” by Ariana Grande, and “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift.
As a fan of “Weird Al” Yankovic, I was excited to see his new song. The music video got many people for visuals for the song, like Ryan Krzak or RWappin, who did the fan-made music video for Weird Al’s song “Albuquerque.” The animators for the music video were very creative with the visuals, all having something unique to them. The song is catchy and fun, something I would willingly listen to on a loop. The song is in the polka genre, so there are instruments like accordions, tubas, drums, banjos, etc. Weird Al played the accordion for the song, something he does for all of his polka medleys. it’s a perfect song with the right choices for songs from the past decade, I’d give this song a 10/10.
