GROTON, Conn. – The Fitch Girls’ Swim Team won against East Lyme on Friday, Sept. 20 in particularly dominating fashion.
On September 20, the Girls Swim Team traveled to East Lyme for their third meet of the year. Fitch ended up winning the meet, with the final score being 112-71, with Fitch beating East Lyme by 41 points, making their record 2-1.
¨I am very happy about the turnout of the meet,¨ said Assistant Coach Molly Condron. ¨Our meet against East Lyme is always exciting, and was especially exciting on Friday because we saw so many great swims from our upperclassmen, and our newcomers.¨
Although the girls did well in their other races, they did the best in the 4oo freestyle relay. ¨The strongest event of the meet was our 400 freestyle relay,¨ said Condron. ¨This event showed the depth of talent of our team, and gave our swimmers an opportunity to work together.¨
Fitch ended up placing first and second in the 400 freestyle relay, with the first place winners being Anna Orphanides, Addison Fulling, Jai-Lyn Wheeler, and Audrey Schrage.
The team had further success against Norwich Free Academy on Sept. 24, winning 83-77, followed by victories against Daniel Hand on Sept. 26 and Waterford on Oct. 1, winning both meets 88-80.
Fitch will next host Ledyard on Oct. 3.
