GROTON, Conn. – The Fitch Falcons faced defeat in their first matchup of the season against an out-of-conference opponent, but the game was closer than what the final score suggested.
The Falcons faced a tough opponent in the Guilford Grizzlies in the opening game of the season on Sept. 13. The Grizzlies, who were led by their star running back, Caden Hillier (Sr.). The Grizzlies wasted no time, scoring on the first play of the game as Hillier ran 68 yards to the house to go up 6-0.
By halftime, the Grizzlies were up 13-0, but that didn’t stop Zy’ree Williams-Brown as he waltzed into the endzone for a 60-yard touchdown. Williams-Brown then proceeded to tack on another touchdown in the third quarter.
It was anyone’s game going into the fourth quarter, with Guilford leading Fitch slightly by a score of 19-14. And then, Guilford swiftly scored two more rushing touchdowns once again off the back of Caden Hillier, leaving Fitch unresponsive for a final score of 31-14

Jake Hedge gets the first star as he had a pivotal interception in the Red Zone which he returned for 60 yards.

115 ALL PURPOSE YARDS, 2 RECEIVING TD
Zy’ree Williams-Brown scored both of Fitch’s touchdowns. Things are looking up for him entering his senior season.
THIRD STAR – CADEN HILLIER, GUILFORD
325 RUSHING YARDS, 5 TOTAL TD
Caden Hillier had a career performance against Fitch as he currently leads all CT players in rushing yards and touchdowns entering Week 2.
The Falcons will face off against the 0-1 Cheshire Rams on Sept. 20, 2024
